The Sun Is Lazy

from Capabilities by George William Reece

/

lyrics

Let’s go way out East,
And see things we dare not keep.
I just want the Sun all over me,
Cause he’s got nothing to do.

Call me ungrateful if you will,
But I’d like to make it clear,
The Sun’s never had to worry ‘what if the Earth was never here?’
He doesn’t care or know my name,
But I’d like to say to him,
“Do you know how lucky you are?”

Laid out by the sea,
I let him shine on me,
And I know he doesn’t even see,
But he’s always warm,
Always light,
Always shining oh so bright,
I hate him but I love him too,
Always gives his best for you…
…but in an inanimate way.
